Jamestown Buoy Moving Slightly Northwest; Still South of Ferry Dock

Submitted by admin on 07/05/2017

In order to provide more accurate data when the winds are blowing from some directions, the CBIBS team is working July 5-7, 2017, on moving the Jamestown CBIBS buoy slightly to the northwest.

The Jamestown buoy was the first CBIBS location, deployed back in May 2007. Its initial location was roughly due south of the monument on Church Point, historic Jamestowne. But this location is somewhat sheltered from westerly wind and waves by Swanns Point on the south side of the James River. To improve accuracy, the buoy is being moved slightly to the northwest; it will continue to be visible roughly 350 meters from shore from the Jamestowne site.
